Harbour on Flickr.

A shot from the harbour wall at Gorleston, just south of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. I’d hoped for big heavy skies just like I’d had when I left home, but when I arrived to the coast pretty much nothing, what cloud there was was just hanging there moving as slowly as I’ve ever seen cloud, still the sun was out which lit up everything nicely.

I did have a strange thing though, some time later in the day I was shooting the sun was directly over head, was capturing some nice shots, but when I got home all my shots were ruined. In the shadow areas there were what I initially though of as loads of dust spots, but I checked my filters (using 3 at the time) and my lens and no dust at all. I looked closer into the shadows and there were even more than I’d first thought. Chatting to a friend of mine a little later he suggested that it was probably sun light getting in between the filters and bouncing around - seems plausible I guess as the sun was pretty above where I was shooting. Anyway next time in the same conditions I’m going to take an umbrella and do a few shots with and without it to see if I can recreate it - then I’ll know for sure.
